About our studio
Artura Studio exists to bring clarity to the way businesses show up in the world.
We work with founders, teams, and business owners who care deeply about what they're building. People who put real care into their mahi—and want that same care reflected in their marketing. For most, that means creating a brand that feels true to them, built to last, and commercially sustainable.
Our way of working is grounded in partnership. We're not here to patch holes or run tactics in isolation. We're here to make sense of the full picture—to understand what's working, what isn't, and where to go from here.
Often that means slowing down before speeding up. Stripping things back until the strategy is clear, the story holds weight, and the execution is all pulling in the same direction across your brand, your website, your content.
Artura is led by Maddie Powers and supported by a trusted network of collaborators. When a project calls for skills beyond our core team, we bring in the right people—designers, developers, photographers, and more—to keep the work cohesive from start to finish.
Where you’ll find our clients
Meet the founder
Kia ora, I'm Maddie. Founder of Artura Studio. Strategist, copywriter, and passionate advocate for New Zealand businesses finding their voice and owning their space.
Originally from Canada, I'm now based in Whanganui and have fallen completely in love with this country and the incredible businesses being built here. There's something special about the creative energy and community spirit you find in places like this.
My background spans strategy, copywriting, and digital marketing, with experience across tourism, government, product, and service-based brands. But more importantly, I've worked inside small teams and large systems, often alongside people trying to do more with less. I know what it's like to carry the weight of growth while wanting the work to feel clear, financially smart, and true.
At its heart, what we do is growth. Some of our clients are established businesses re-evaluating their audiences and sharpening their edge in crowded markets. Others are startups with proof of concept, ready to scale. We don't stop at marketing execution—a big part of our mahi is helping shape the foundations that actually drive growth, whether that looks like brand and campaigns or something closer to business strategy.
We're very much a cup of tea kind of business. Most people don't actually know where to start, and I get it. Our role is to make sense of it all, meet you where you are, and give you the clarity and direction to take the next step. Relationships come first, always—I'd rather spend time getting to know you and what you're really trying to build than jump straight into tactics.
What matters most is getting you the right outcome, wherever you're at in your journey. Sometimes that's working together, sometimes it's pointing you toward someone else who's a better fit. We genuinely care about seeing you succeed—that's what guides every conversation.
Artura exists for people who want more than a marketing service. The ones building something with intent, looking for a partner who can think strategically, move with care, and keep the execution sharp. Every project is shaped collaboratively, with connection at the centre and quality in the details.
More than anything, I believe marketing should earn its keep. When it's thoughtful, audience-aware, and aligned with your direction, it doesn't just say something—it does something.
"Maddie developed our social media strategy, resulting in the most engaged social media pages of any council in the country—a success that still holds strong four years later. I’d hire Maddie again in a heartbeat—and you should too."
— Olivia Wix | Communications Manager, Palmerston North City Council
About the name
Artura (pronounced Ar-tur-ah) is a name layered with meaning for us. It draws from the Celtic word “she-bear,” and is inspired by the symbolism of the bear across cultures — a creature known for strength, direction, and quiet leadership.
For Maddie, the bear also holds personal significance. In her family’s Indigenous heritage, it’s seen as a guide. That same energy is woven into how we work: with purpose, care, and the clarity to lead.
